TGOA-MGCA National Events

Photography Competition
An annual photo contest is held to select Best of Show, First and Second Runners-Up awards, and a Sweepstakes Award which is determined from the total score of up to 20 photos entered into the contest. The contest is judged by professional photographers not associated with the organization. The winners for 2018 are displayed below. You may download the manual which includes all rules and entry forms.

This is the national award presented to Judy Nighorn for her Second Place Runner-up photo entered into the 2018 TGOA-MGCA Photography Competition. Shirley Winnes chairs the national photography and calendar committee.
Annual National Calendar
From the photos entered into the national photography competition, an annual calendar is created.  Professional photographers volunteer to select the winners from photos entered into the contest. Calendars may be ordered from the TGOA-MGCA website. Two photos in the 2019 calendar were taken by The Gardeners Club of Green Bay members.

Gene Stratton-Porter (1863-1924) naturalist and author of children's novels lived in Rome City, Indiana, on Silver Lake. Her property is a state historic site made up of nearly 150 acres of shoreline, fields, woods, and gardens.
